Principal’s Message
Welcome to Hayatabad Institute of Medical Sciences, College of Nursing & Health Sciences. It is my privilege to lead an institution built on a simple conviction: that nursing education must combine strong theoretical grounding with real, hands-on clinical exposure from the earliest possible stage.
Nursing is among the most demanding professions in healthcare, and also one of the most trusted. A nurse is often the first person a patient sees and the last person they speak to before a procedure — that responsibility shapes everything we do at HIMS. Our curriculum is built around the standards set by the Pakistan Nursing & Midwifery Council (PNMC) and Khyber Medical University (KMU), and our institutional accreditation with the Higher Education Regulatory Authority (HERA) reflects our commitment to meeting recognised academic benchmarks.
What sets HIMS apart is the strength of our clinical partnerships. Through our MOUs with Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) and Frontier Corps Teaching Hospital (FCTH) — two of the busiest and most respected teaching hospitals in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa — our students train in real wards, alongside real patients, under the supervision of experienced clinical staff. This is not simulated practice; it is the genuine article, and it is why our graduates enter the workforce with confidence rather than hesitation. Both hospitals also offer our graduates paid internship placements, giving new nurses a paid pathway directly from classroom to career.
Our faculty are chosen not only for academic qualification but for their willingness to mentor. Class sizes are kept manageable so that no student becomes a face in the crowd. Discipline, ethics, and a genuine bedside manner are taught here with the same seriousness as anatomy and pharmacology.
Whether you are a prospective student weighing your options, a parent seeking reassurance about your daughter or son’s future, or a healthcare partner exploring collaboration, I invite you to look closely at what HIMS offers. We are a young institution with an ambitious standard, and we intend to meet it.
