Proctorial Board
The Proctorial Board exists to maintain a campus environment where students and staff can teach, learn, and work without disruption, intimidation, or unfair treatment. It is the disciplinary backbone of student life at HIMS.
Responsibilities
- Overseeing student conduct on campus, in the skill lab, and during clinical placements at LRH and FCTH
- Investigating disciplinary complaints in a fair, confidential, and timely manner
- Recommending appropriate action to college administration in line with institutional policy and PNMC conduct standards for nursing students
- Promoting awareness of the student code of conduct, particularly around professional behaviour in clinical settings
- Coordinating with hospital administration at partner sites when a conduct issue arises during a clinical rotation
Why Discipline Matters in Nursing Education
Nursing is a profession built on trust — patients trust nurses with their safety, dignity, and sometimes their lives. The standards enforced by the Proctorial Board during training are the same standards PNMC and future employers will expect after graduation. Discipline here is preparation, not punishment for its own sake.
Students with concerns about conduct or discipline on campus may raise them through the college office or via the Contact page.
